Kentucky Classique Horse Trials at the Horse Park

This weekend was a great one for Team Wetherbrooke!

Saturday morning Elizabeth and Celine (Best Sensation)  rode an awesome Beginner Novice dressage test for a score of 36 (64%)!  It was a really consistent and precise test for the pair and put them into 5th place after dressage.  A few hours later the team completed a beautiful  (and double clear) stadium round which moved them into 2nd place!  Joy and Augustus had their lowest score in the dressage ring this year with a score of 24.7(75.3%).  The score was good enough to put the pair into 2nd place in their Open Training division.   Joy and Gus went double clear cross country with a few minor issues at the first water complex.  Joy stayed on and Gus went through the water with a little help from the crop!  The rest of the course was a blast!  Joy and Gus ended up in 1st place after cross country.

Joy and Gus put in a nice stadium course on Sunday, but unfortunately took down a rail at fence #1.  It was an unpleasant moment, but the pair ended the weekend in 2nd place with a score of 28.7 and got to do another victory gallop at the horse park.  What could be better?!!  (well, maybe a blue ribbon)  Gus was great all weekend and seemed to really enjoy the company of his friend Celine!

Elizabeth and Celine rode cross country a few hours later.  The team looked great (even with the button on the top of Elizabeth’s helmet cover!)!  Elizabeth had a few concerns about the course, but other than a slight misunderstanding at the second water complex, the team had a perfect round!  Elizabeth added 20 points to her score and ended the weekend in 8th place (out of 23 riders!!!!)  Way to go, Elizabeth!!!   This was their first horse trials away from the Dayton area.  They could not have been better.

We all had a fun weekend.  Lots of laughing and lots of riding!  (SHHHHHHH—no talking—Joy is trying to concentrate!!)  You guys were awesome.  Thank you to my “Groom of the Universe”, Jen Wenning.  Once again you were fantastic.  You make this showing thing so much more fun!  And thanks to my “farm boy” for once again losing your wife for the weekend.

——have a great ride!
