SCHOOL YEAR 2018-2019
Attention Dayton Area Homeschool Families……
Wetherbrooke Farm is starting an Equine Science / Barn Management Program. The program will be operated by Joy Von Handorf, owner and head instructor at Wetherbrooke Farm. Joy is a former teacher and coach at Dayton Christian High School and Nelsonville York Middle School. The program will cover topics about horse care, horsemanship, and farm management. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
Anatomy of a horse
Equine Chiropractic care
Vet care and medicines
Equipment and usage
Running an equine business
Supplies and ordering
Parts of the tack
Arena and footing care
Farm and riding related mathematics
Classes will meet for two hours a week for nine weeks and are available for students from age 5-18 years old. Classes will be divided into elementary students and middle school/high school aged students if numbers allow. Our first class will begin in September and will run for nine weeks. The dates and times for fall quarter is on the registration form below. Equine Science classes must be taken in numerical order and will build on the information learned in previous classes.
Students will need to dress appropriately for the weather and the activities of the day. We will be in the classroom for part of the day and out in the barns for the rest of the time. Depending upon the time of the class, students may need to bring a sack lunch and a drink.
$50 non-refundable deposit to hold a spot in the program is due by July 1st
$220 balance is due in full no later than July 20th
$30 late charge to those who register and pay after July 20th deadline
$60 discount off the total price of 2 siblings (instead of $540 for 2, it would be $480)
